For Noah, camp changed everything.

Noah, a nonverbal 16-year-old who previously lacked stable support, was able to experience care, safety, and simple joys at Camp Fairlee thanks to a scholarship, highlighting how donor support, now doubled by a matching gift, can make life-changing camp experiences accessible to more children with disabilities.

A Scholarship Made Camp Possible for Noah

When Noah arrived at Camp Fairlee for the first time in the summer of 2025, everything was new to him. Swimming. Time outdoors. Even learning the rhythm of a full day. 

Noah, 16, is nonverbal and requires one-on-one support. Before entering foster care, he experienced housing instability and didn’t have access to the consistent support he needed in his daily life. With the help of his foster family and a camp scholarship, he was able to come to Camp Fairlee.  
At camp, he swam in the fully accessible pool, made arts and crafts, and explored nature. But he also experienced something many of us take for granted: three meals a day, daily personal care, a safe place to sleep, and people checking in on him.  

And his favorite activity was simple: sitting on the porch in a rocking chair with his counselor, taking in everything around him.

Camp Fairlee is a fully accessible camp designed for children and adults with disabilities. Many campers, like Noah, require individualized, one-on-one support.  Camp scholarships help open the door for everyone to experience the joy of camp, ensuring financial need is never a barrier.
