Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore has announced that the fifth annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award will be used to pilot a “It’s Never 2 Late” Technology System” for the adult day program at Easterseals in Georgetown. This technology is expected to be especially beneficial for Easterseals participants with dementia because the content is designed by experts and can be individualized for each person to help reduce anxiety, engage their focus, and stimulate their memories.
The “It’s Never 2 Late” technology provides person-centered engagement that will entertain, engage and empower individuals to select their chosen activities. By using large touch screens, this system brings technology directly to seniors and persons with disabilities who may otherwise not be able to utilize technology or computers.
The Bill Adami Fund for Innovation was created in memory of Easterseals late President/CEO, William J. Adami, honoring his legacy of leadership and innovation at Easterseals.
“Easterseals staff are always striving to provide meaningful and engaging programming to their participants,” Kate Antisavage, Easterseals Adult Day Health Services Center Director, said. “Thanks to the Bill Adami Fund, this new program will bring technology right to our participants’ finger tips in our Georgetown program. We will pilot the technology here and hopefully additional funding can be secured to expand the program to the Easterseals adult day program in New Castle.”
Easterseals President/CEO, Kenan Sklenar, said that proposals from Easterseals staff for the Fund for Innovation award are increasing each year. “Each year, staff members submit the most creative ideas that get to the heart of why we started this fund, to remember Bill Adami and his innovative way of thinking,” he said. “The more dollars raised for the fund, the more we are able to implement innovative ideas to serve people with disabilities and seniors each year.”
