Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore has announced the appointment of Pam Reuther of Harbeson, Delaware, as its next President/Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2026, following an extensive national search conducted by the Board of Directors in partnership with Dunleavy & Associates.
Reuther, a Delaware native who has dedicated her entire 32-year career to Easterseals, currently serves as the organization's Chief Operating Officer. She succeeds President/ CEO Ken Sklenar, who announced last year he is retiring after 13 years of leadership.
"After undertaking a thorough and thoughtful process, it became clear that the best person to lead Easterseals was already here," said Walter Kowal, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Transition Committee. "Pam's strategic leadership, operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to our mission set her apart."
Reuther has spent her career building programs and partnerships that have improved the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Her Easterseals career began in 1994 as a physical therapist. Over the next three decades, she advanced through increasingly senior leadership roles -- including Clinical Coordinator, Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation Therapy, Vice President of Programs, and COO -- while helping expand Easterseals' services from 15 to 22 programs, strengthening operations, securing millions of dollars in grant funding, and guiding the organization through periods of significant growth and change.
"Pam's appointment by a unanimous vote reflects the Board's confidence in her proven leadership, strategic vision, and, above all, her unwavering commitment to the mission of Easterseals," said Pierre Anderson, Chair of the Easterseals Board of Directors. "She has earned the trust of employees, families, and community partners and is well-positioned to lead a smooth transition while building on Easterseals’ strong foundation for future success."
Reuther, recently named a C-Suite of the Year honoree by the Delaware Business Times, said she is eager to continue advancing the organization's mission as CEO.
"I learned very early in my career that this work is about people—first and always," Reuther said. "Every day, we have the opportunity to help people achieve greater independence, dignity and opportunity. There is no greater privilege than being part of that journey. I am deeply honored by the Board's confidence and excited to continue working alongside our extraordinary staff, Board, volunteers and community partners to create opportunities for people with disabilities, seniors and caregivers to live with dignity, independence and purpose."
Sklenar welcomed the announcement and expressed optimism in the organization's future under Reuther’s leadership.
“Pam is an exceptional leader who understands every aspect of this organization because she has helped build it over the past 32 years,” Sklenar said. “She leads with compassion, integrity, and vision. I look forward to working alongside her in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition. I know Easterseals will continue to thrive under her leadership."
Originally from Newark, DE, Reuther graduated from St. Mark’s High School and holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Neumann University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
