Caregiver Support

We Provide Support for Those Caring for a Loved One

Overview

Easterseals is a vital community resource for caregivers, providing guidance, education, and support to help them care for themselves as they care for their loved one. Through its Caregiver Resource Centers in New Castle and Milford, Easterseals Case Managers connect families to helpful materials and local resources. Programs include monthly support groups, wellness education, and the annual Caregiver Conference, as well as access to assistive devices at the Resource & Technology Demonstration Center, which is open to the public. Easterseals also supports caregivers who need to take a break through the Lifespan and Relative Respite Programs. Check out all the caregiver services offered by Easterseals below.

Our Programs

Caregiver Education and Support

Our goal is to provide resources and practical tools and tips, as well as information on how caregivers can take care of themselves. Easterseals offers many ways to help caregivers, such as:

  • Caregiver Support Groups held monthly where caregivers share their own experiences in caregiving, and learn from others.
  • Free workshops on topics such as Fall Prevention, caring for a Loved One with Dementia, Financial Planning, and other subjects.
  • Our Annual Caregiver Conference which brings together caregivers, professionals, and providers to learn about caregiving issues and share solutions and ideas. This free conference is co-sponsored by the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities and offers an opportunity for learning, networking, and sharing.

Resource & Technology Demonstration Center

The Resource and Technology Demonstration Center has hundreds of pieces of assistive technology on display for visitors to see and learn about.  We do not sell any products from the Resource Center, but our knowledgeable staff can provide information about where and how to purchase devices. Stop in the Resource Center during regular business hours or call to set up an appointment for a virtual tour.  Call 302-221-2076 or 302-253-1129 to talk with one of our Case Managers, or email us at resources@esdel.org .

Watch these videos to see demonstrations of some of the assistive technology available at the Resource and Technology Demonstration Center.

    Respite Services

What is respite? Respite is anything that gives YOU, the caregiver, a break while someone else cares for your loved one. Some examples of respite include taking a walk in the park alone, attending a twice-weekly yoga class, rejoining the church choir, spending a weekend away with friends.

    More Than a Meal

This Giving Tuesday, your donation helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities not only gain meaningful work and connection but also strengthen the community by delivering Meals on Wheels to neighbors in need. Every gift supports empowering people with I/DD to make a real difference in their communities.

A Place Where Dominick Can Grow

When Dominick David, of Newark, is in his Easterseals day program for adults with intellectual disabilities, his mom, Lynne, knows he is engaged in activities, forming relationship bonds and staying connected to his community.

    Easterseals Treats People, Not Diagnoses

Families like James’ turn to Easterseals not only for life-changing therapies, but for hope for their child’s future. Tracy and Jamie experienced that after James was diagnosed with Down syndrome.
