Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore has announced “The Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” in memory of their recent President/CEO, and longtime disability advocate, William J. Adami. The creation of a fund bearing his name is to honor Adami’s legacy of leadership and innovation at Easterseals.

Ernie Dianastasis, a longtime board member of Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore, will be recognized at the 2016 Easterseals Annual Dinner on Thursday, October 13 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is bringing a new type of therapy to its Salisbury children’s therapy services thanks to a $5,500 grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation. The grant will help provide children with a variety of diagnoses a therapy known as Interactive Metronome (IM). IM is used to improve concentration, coordination, language processing, math/reading skills, and impulse control.

When Stella was born 10 weeks early, Amanda saw in her daughter a determination that carried her through many complications and eight weeks in the NICU. Between three and six months, Amanda and Jim, Stella’s parents, noticed Stella was not using her left arm and leg. They were shocked to learn she had had a stroke after birth. Wanting the best outcome for their daughter, they sought out Easterseals Children’s Therapy services.

Experiencing the joy and unconditional love that is Kenzie Pickett, of Lincoln, DE, is one of the world’s great gifts to offer. She can find a friend in any room and knows who needs a hug the most. Kenzie is a three-year-old girl full of sass, spirit and who also happens to have Down Syndrome. Kenzie is meeting her milestones with Easterseals by her side every step of the way.

Easterseals was out in full force at the rally last week to support HB 104, the Michael McNesby Full Funding for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities. We are asking the State to keep its promise and approve $9 million in state funding as a first-year commitment to fully fund disability services.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is delighted to announce that Conor Pellinger, of Berlin, MD, will serve as this year’s ambassador for their inaugural “Walk With Me & 5K Fun Run Salisbury” event. It will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 9 a.m., at the Salisbury Elks Lodge #817 located at 401 Churchill Avenue, Salisbury, MD.

Bill Mosley, of Hartly, DE, is blind, has a hearing impairment, and is an amazing advocate! With the help of Easterseals Direct Support Professionals, he learned how to write the alphabet so he could write a letter to his elected officials about issues important to him and other people with disabilities. Senator Tom Carper was so impressed that he stopped into Easterseals Dover adult day program last week to meet Bill and discuss the issues. With the support of his direct care staff and his sister, Bonnie, Bill is creating important awareness about disability issues.

Recently, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore received a 55-gallon drum of hand sanitizer from P&G Dover Wipes Company, located in Dover, DE. This donation will help Easterseals meet guidelines when they start reopening many of their programs that are currently suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
