Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology (AT) is any device, system and/or related service that maintains or improves the functional capability of individuals with disabilities.
Overview
Assistive technology empowers people with disabilities to perform daily tasks more independently, enhancing their quality of life and participation in the community. For caregivers, it offers vital support by reducing physical demands and providing peace of mind through increased safety and autonomy for their loved ones.

Assistive Technology Services
Virtual Seating Assessments: Comfort and Safety for Wheelchair Users
Proper fit of the wheelchair and seating components is essential for any mobility device. The correct wheelchair and seating system can increase independence, prevent skin breakdown, and improve comfort. If you have concerns with your current wheelchair or are in need of an assessment, please reach out to our team for assistance.
Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC) Assessments
Our staff are experts in determining the technology available that can help someone who has a communication limitation successfully communicate with others. Through our AAC ASSESSMENT service, various devices and strategies, both low and high-tech, will be tested to determine what works best for the client.
Our Staff: Knowledge and experience!
Assistive Technology Services are provided by skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable team members. Staff work hard to remain current with the latest technology and equipment by attending national conferences, participating in web-based seminars, and researching the latest technology. The assessments are comprehensive, driven by your needs, and integrated within our therapy services.
Resource & Technology Demonstration Center
The Resource and Technology Demonstration Center has hundreds of pieces of assistive technology on display for visitors to see and learn about. We do not sell any products from the Center, but our knowledgeable staff can provide information about where and how to purchase devices. Stop in the Resource and Technology Demonstration Center during regular business hours or call to set up an appointment for a virtual tour. Call 302-221-2076 or 302-253-1129 to talk with one of our Case Managers, or email us at resources@esdel.org.
