Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently recognized those who helped raise nearly $4.5 million to expand and modernize Easterseals Camp Fairlee in Chestertown, MD. A beautiful donor wall was dedicated and now hangs in the newly constructed Activity Center, which, not only welcomes families to the fully accessible camp but also allows Camp Fairlee to be a year-round resource of respite and recreation to families in the region.

As the warm weather rolls in, the ideas of swimming pools and s’mores by a campfire dance in the minds of campers. Camp is a rite of passage for many people and that is why Mark Engberg donates to Easterseals Camp Fairlee each year so children and adults of all abilities are able to experience the joy of camp in a safe and accessible environment.

Easterseals Board Member, William “Bill” Short, was recently recognized for Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Kent County. He was selected and nominated by Easterseals for his tireless advocacy for Easterseals Camp Fairlee and people with disabilities.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore announced that it has received a grant from Highmark Delaware BluePrints for the Community to offer children under the age of three with autism Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore announced that it has received a Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware BluePrints for the Community grant to support their Memory Care and Adult Day Health Services. This funding will allow Easterseals to meet the current challenges of rising expenses to provide these much-needed services while continuing to expand the number of people served with memory and cognitive challenges in their existing Adult Day Health Program.

Easterseals Camp Fairlee has recently received its American Camp Association (ACA)-Accredited® Camp status in an accreditation process that evaluates key aspects of camp operation. ACA-accredited camps meet up to 300 standards for health, safety and program quality.

The money will be used to help children with disabilities from Maryland counties: Wicomico, Worcester and St. Mary’s enjoy Easterseals Camp Fairlee in Chestertown, MD.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $3,000 donation from the David Larmore Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. The donations from this fund are permanently dedicated to Easterseals. Recently, Crystal Trust donated to Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore to help improve the current aquatic area at Camp Fairlee in Chestertown, MD. Camp Fairlee provides a typical residential camp experience for children and adults with disabilities.

An “Adaptive Canoe/Kayak Program” to help participants with physical disabilities gain greater independence through water sports at Easterseals Camp Fairlee is the winner of the third annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award. Camp Fairlee, located in Chestertown, MD, serves children and adults with disabilities.

An indispensable resource for the region, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is celebrating 75 years of creating an inclusive community for local children and adults with disabilities, seniors, and their families. Though early services focused solely on children’s therapy services, Easterseals has expanded over the years to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and seniors through innovative services to ensure they have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

The climbing tower and zip line at Easterseals Camp Fairlee will honor the memory of the late Charles Rochester Jr., whose families have roots in both the Rock Hall, Maryland and Wilmington, Delaware communities.
