Easterseals Direct Support Professionals Recognized for Leadership
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore employees, Ebony Keaton, of Bridgeville, and Lawrence “Larry” Manokey, of Seaford, were recently recognized with an Honorable Mention as the top Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in the State for their inspirational work supporting people with disabilities. They were both nominated by their supervisors and honored at an annual event held by the Ability Network of Delaware. -

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore employee, Jennifer Cossa, of Hartly, DE, has been recognized as one of the top five Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Delaware for her leadership in supporting people with disabilities. Pamela Montague, of Georgetown, DE, was awarded Honorable Mention in the Advocate category. Cossa, who supports individuals attending the day program for adults with intellectual disabilities in Dover and Montague, who supports individuals in Easterseals Supported Employment program, were nominated by their supervisors and honored at an annual event held by the Ability Network of Delaware. -
Easterseals Celebrates National Family Caregiver Month
There are a lot of heroes that have helped America get through the COVID-19 pandemic. Hospital staff, first responders and so many more whose acts have made a difference in so many lives. However, there are a number of other heroes who do not wear capes, who do not have notoriety, and who also make a huge difference in their loved one’s life. These are unpaid family caregivers. At Easterseals, they are our heroes! -
Easterseals Celebrates 17 Years with "Hockey4Haxton"
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore celebrates a 17-year partnership with Hockey4Haxton, an event that raises money for Easterseals therapy services for people with disabilities in Sussex County. This year Ike Eisenhour, Executive Director of Delaware Shore Field Hockey, Inc., presented a $1000 check to Easterseals Community Relations Coordinator, Linda Forte. -
Easterseals Awarded Highmark Delaware BluePrints for the Community Grant
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore announced that it has received a grant from Highmark Delaware BluePrints for the Community to offer children under the age of three with autism Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy. -
Easterseals Awarded Highmark BluePrints for the Community Grant
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore announced that it has received a Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware BluePrints for the Community grant to support their Memory Care and Adult Day Health Services. This funding will allow Easterseals to meet the current challenges of rising expenses to provide these much-needed services while continuing to expand the number of people served with memory and cognitive challenges in their existing Adult Day Health Program. -
Easterseals Artists to be Featured at Rehoboth Art League
Easterseals participants and staff are excited to announce the opening of their Easterseals Sussex Family and Friends Artfulness Exhibition at the Rehoboth Art League at 12 Dodds Lane in Rehoboth, which will showcase the art created by Easterseals adult day services participants. The exhibit is made possible through the Easterseals “Artfulness” program. -
Donnie Williams Foundation Donates $10,000 to Easterseals
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $10,000 donation from the Donnie Williams Foundation. The donation will be used to support the Easterseals Children’s Therapy program in Salisbury, MD. -
Easterseals Fund For Innovation Award Goes to Sensory Gym
A “Sensory Gym” to help children better interact with their surroundings is the winner of the second annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award through Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The Easterseals Children’s Therapy department in Salisbury, MD, received funding to construct the Sensory Gym, which will benefit more than 80% of the children currently seen by therapists there. -

An indispensable resource for the region, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is celebrating 75 years of creating an inclusive community for local children and adults with disabilities, seniors, and their families. Though early services focused solely on children’s therapy services, Easterseals has expanded over the years to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and seniors through innovative services to ensure they have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. -

When Valeriya learned her son, Edward, had a very rare genetic disorder, there were many questions but often few answers. For comfort and support, she reached out to other families from around the world who also had children with rare disorders. Here at home, she reached out to Easterseals, who brought critically needed services to help Edward meet his developmental milestones. -
Easterseals Celebrates National Family Caregiver Month
When her twin sister passed away, Sylvia Davis felt lost and lonely. The pair were very active sharing their gift of music with their community and it was a tough adjustment. Her younger sister, Deborah Cooke, recognized Sylvia’s need to remain active in the community and found Easterseals Adult Day Health Services. Not only does the program keep Sylvia engaged and social, but it provides Deborah with a much-needed break from caregiving.
