    Paws Up for Developmental Disability Awareness Month

    When Easterseals Pre-Vocational Services group enters the room, it is all hands (and paws) on deck to help Faithful Friends stay in tip top shape so they can continue the great work they do in the community. While the Easterseals participants are helping Faithful Friends, they are also learning valuable job skills that can lead to full-time, paid employment.

    It is hard to find a group of people who bring dedication and a hard-working attitude but also smiles with them. The CHEER Center, which serves seniors in the Sussex County Region, found that in a group of volunteers from Easterseals Pre-Vocational Services. Participants at Easterseals love volunteering in the community, and thanks to this partnership, they are able to do just that while learning valuable work
    skills.

    South Jersey Robotics Donates Adaptive Pool Equipment to Easterseals

    Recently, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore received a donation of “Swim Fins” designed by the “LUNATECS,” a team of students from the South Jersey Robotics' Adaptive Device Program. These adaptive tools attach to swimmers' arms to help propel campers with limited mobility so they can enjoy the pool at Easterseals Camp Fairlee.

    Easterseals Introduces 2024 Volleyball Challenge Ambassador

    Brian Perry, of Frederica, DE, is a world traveler, recently returning from Germany where he competed in the Special Olympics World Games as a swimming champion representing the United States. Meanwhile at home, his team at the café at Delaware State University, where he has worked for the last ten years through Easterseals’ Supported Employment program, was cheering him on.

    Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a grant from Safeway Foundation to support its Supported Employment program – a program that opens the door to meaningful work and competitive wages in the community for adults with intellectual disabilities, while providing employers with dedicated, productive employees.

    Easterseals Receives Grant from Discover Bank for Supported Employment Program

    Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $25,000 grant from Discover Bank to support its Supported Employment program – a program that opens the door to meaningful work and competitive wages in the community for adults with intellectual disabilities, while providing employers with dedicated, productive employees. Each year, Easterseals partners with over 60 businesses around Delaware to recruit and train individuals with disabilities for their workplace.

    Adami Fund for Innovation Focuses on Enhanced Accessibility

    Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore has announced the sixth annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award will be used to fund two projects initiated by Easterseals staff to improve accessibility within the organization. The Bill Adami Fund for Innovation was created in memory of Easterseals late President/CEO, William J. Adami, who passed away in 2013.

    Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore has announced that the fifth annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award will be used to pilot a “It’s Never 2 Late” Technology System” for the adult day program at Easterseals in Georgetown. This technology is expected to be especially beneficial for Easterseals participants with dementia because the content is designed by experts and can be individualized for each person to help reduce anxiety, engage their focus, and stimulate their memories.

    Easterseals of Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore announced that it has received a $30,000 grant from Bank of America for its Supported Employment services, which help individuals with intellectual disabilities work in the community.

  • Easterseals Receives $25,000 Grant from Discover Bank

    Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $25,000 grant through Discover Bank to support the Supported Employment program for people with intellectual disabilities. Participants are able to find meaningful work and receive competitive wages with the support of an Easterseals Employment Specialist who serves as a natural support and provides on-the-job training.
