Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $10,000 donation from the Donnie Williams Foundation. The donation will be used to support the Easterseals Children’s Therapy program in Salisbury, MD.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $3,000 donation from the David Larmore Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. The donations from this fund are permanently dedicated to Easterseals. Recently, Crystal Trust donated to Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore to help improve the current aquatic area at Camp Fairlee in Chestertown, MD. Camp Fairlee provides a typical residential camp experience for children and adults with disabilities.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently welcomed Pamela A. Patone, of Middletown, as the new Vice President/Chief Financial Officer. Patone joins Easterseals with a diverse background in senior accounting, management and nonprofit experience.

An “Adaptive Canoe/Kayak Program” to help participants with physical disabilities gain greater independence through water sports at Easterseals Camp Fairlee is the winner of the third annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award. Camp Fairlee, located in Chestertown, MD, serves children and adults with disabilities.

A “Sensory Gym” to help children better interact with their surroundings is the winner of the second annual “Bill Adami Fund for Innovation” award through Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The Easterseals Children’s Therapy department in Salisbury, MD, received funding to construct the Sensory Gym, which will benefit more than 80% of the children currently seen by therapists there.

An indispensable resource for the region, Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is celebrating 75 years of creating an inclusive community for local children and adults with disabilities, seniors, and their families. Though early services focused solely on children’s therapy services, Easterseals has expanded over the years to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and seniors through innovative services to ensure they have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

When her twin sister passed away, Sylvia Davis felt lost and lonely. The pair were very active sharing their gift of music with their community and it was a tough adjustment. Her younger sister, Deborah Cooke, recognized Sylvia’s need to remain active in the community and found Easterseals Adult Day Health Services. Not only does the program keep Sylvia engaged and social, but it provides Deborah with a much-needed break from caregiving.

Alex landed his dream job shortly after graduation thanks to Easterseals Supported Employment program.

Emory and Otisia “Tish” did not know in 1982 when they said those words “in sickness and in health” that sickness would come sooner than they thought. Though caregiving for Tish, who had her first stroke at 45, has not come without trials, it is Emory’s great attitude, support from family, and a team of caring professionals at an Easterseals Adult Day program, that has really made a huge impact in how they continue to live their lives.
