Easterseals/CAI Volleyball Challenge

My name is Ellice. I live in a group home and I have a turtle and his name is George. She came from a senior program. And one of her goals was she wanted to do more outings. She wanted to get out into the community. And that's what Easterseals makes sure she achieves. I came and got a view of this place, and I found out that this place was my cup of tea.
Ellice is very social. Easterseals is like Ellice's party. They call her boss lady and she just likes to make sure everybody's taken care of. She loves the day program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She started off as just a couple of days, and now she's full time. I'm a business woman, and, I like to work with beads and make them and sell them.

One of my goals is money management. When you see her go up to the counter at the farmer's market and you see that she gives them the money, she gets her receipt back, she gets her correct change the smile on her face. Just knowing she did that independently is just. It just fills your heart. Easterseals helps me to be in the community.

One of Ellice's favorite activities in the community is Meals on Wheels. And she delivers to some of the seniors that she attended the senior program with. But it is unfortunate that she doesn't have any natural family. And Easterseals, I think, fills that void for her. Easterseals feels like my family now. That's the one thing you want to make sure of as a parent: when you leave here, your children are going to be taken care of.

They're going to be okay. I'm glad that I'm a part of making someone feel loved. Feel wanted. Feel included in a society that may not always be kind. Easterseals is her world, and I'm just happy to be a part of that.
