Easterseals Direct Support Professionals Recognized for Leadership and Advocacy
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore employee, Jennifer Cossa, of Hartly, DE, has been recognized as one of the top five Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Delaware for her leadership in supporting people with disabilities. Pamela Montague, of Georgetown, DE, was awarded Honorable Mention in the Advocate category. Cossa, who supports individuals attending the day program for adults with intellectual disabilities in Dover and Montague, who supports individuals in Easterseals Supported Employment program, were nominated by their supervisors and honored at an annual event held by the Ability Network of Delaware. -
Easterseals Honors Doanes With Volunteer Award
For their leadership and dedication to improving the lives of people with disabilities, David and Jamie Doane, from Dagsboro, DE, will be presented with the Easterseals Drex Jones Volunteer Award at Easterseals 75th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, October 19th, at the Chase Center in Wilmington, DE. Easterseals is a leading provider of services for children and adults with disabilities and their families in the region. -
Easterseals Receives BBB’s First Thrive Award for Community Impact
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is proud to be the first recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s “Thrive Award for Community Impact”, an award to celebrate leaders that embrace diversity and inclusion in their business. Easterseals, a leading provider of services for people with disabilities, earned this award because of its dedication to reflect diversity in its workforce and service recipients, as well as its role in building a more inclusive work environment in businesses across the state through its Supported Employment Program. -
Easterseals Celebrates Physical Therapy Month
Doctors may have painted a bleak picture for little Demi Rodgers, who was born without an esophagus, the part of the body that connects the throat to the stomach, and Spina Bifida. However, the team of therapists at Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is working side-by-side with her family, offering support and encouragement to help Demi meet her milestones. -
David Larmore Fund Donates All Proceeds to Easterseals
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently received a $3,000 donation from the David Larmore Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. The donations from this fund are permanently dedicated to Easterseals. Easterseals Support Groups Help Caregivers Keep Their Laughter
Eleven years ago, K'June and Brian Evans' daughter, ArielI Green, had an asthma attack and was without oxygen for 25 minutes. They were afraid, but K'June knew ArielI would come through. And she did! The incident permanently changed their lives, however, and they transitioned from being just her parents to Ariell's full-time caregivers. -
Independence Found at Easterseals Camp Fairlee
John Suggs is counting down the days until his 12-day adventure at Easterseals Camp Fairlee, and it is not hard to see why. For John, who is visually impaired and has Cerebral Palsy, camp means independence, new experiences, and friendship. For his parents, Lisa Dornell and Robert Suggs, it means a break from caregiving.
