Adult Services

Easterseals provides a variety of home and community-based services affording adults and seniors opportunities to live, learn, work and play as a vital part of their own community or neighborhood. Innovative programs address a wide variety of disabilities, including the needs of adults with a physical or intellectual disability, persons with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, as well as an individual with Multiple Sclerosis, or those who have had a stroke. In addition, these valuable programs offer respite, support, and education for caregivers -- comprehensive and individualized to meet the client's needs. 

Older Adult Services

Easterseals services such as adult day health services, assistive technology, case management, wellness programs, and support for family caregivers help people live as independently as possible for as long as possible. The Easterseals family of services is ever expanding to meet the needs and help promote wellness, independence, and connectivity among the growing number of older Americans.

Services for Adults with Physical Disabilities 

Caring for a family member? You're not alone. Whether through birth conditions, accidents, or chronic illness, many young adults and their families benefit from our services. Easterseals adult day health services provide appropriate support to adults with acquired disabilities, and a chance to live satisfying lives in their communities. Adult Day Health Services addresses the medical and social needs of individuals who experience the effects of aging and/or the impact of a physical disability. Easterseals provides choices when a loved one needs assistance with daily living, and does not prefer full-time nursing home care. Easterseals adult day health services benefit both participants and their caregivers. 

Services for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism 

Easterseals offers a variety of day program services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Throughout Delaware, services include Life Skills programs, Pre-Vocational services, and Supported Employment options. The same basic service array is available in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties in Delaware with some local differences. Delaware's Division of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDDS) sponsors virtually all program participants. A few individuals receive services through private fee arrangements.  

Personal Attendant Services 

For adults with physical disabilities, the Personal Attendant Services program (PAS) allows people with disabilities to maintain independent lifestyles, to live in the community, and make choices concerning their personal assistant needs. Individuals who take part in the Personal Attendant Services Program choose and hire their own Personal Attendant and work with them based on their individual needs. 

Respite

Are you handling your aging mother's bills? Do you take your grandfather to the grocery store once a week? Do you take time off work to drive your aunt to her doctor's appointments? If so, you are a caregiver...and there are many services and supports available to you and the person for whom you are caring. 

Camp Fairlee is for Adults, too! 

Easterseals Camp Fairlee has multiple programs available to adults with disabilities on a year-round basis. Located outside of Chestertown, MD, Easterseals Camp Fairlee offers week-long summer sessions, weekend respites, and travel trips.  The Respite Weekend program provides outdoor recreation, fun, and friendship for children and adults with disabilities in a camp setting. The weekend allows caregivers a short interval of rest from the 24-hour responsibility of direct care or service. Program activities vary by group age and ability, but may include sports and games, nature activities, creative arts, outdoor adventure activities, field trip,s and more. Community Outreach Program

Our Community Outreach Program offers disability-related education and resources to connect consumers, caregivers, and professionals to the information they need. The Resource and Technology Demonstration Center provides opportunities for "hands-on" trials of assistive technology equipment, as well as help with low-interest financing. Our case manager provides information, resources, and support to families of all ages and disabilities.
